Yes, a seven segment display display. The creator calls it DigitGrid. So rad.
Using an FPGA seemed to really do the trick. I had a similar idea but using sixteen or fourteen segment displays in more of a grayscale ASCII art form. But this is way cooler. And the song selection is spectacular, too.
